Podiatry

podiatry

Main:
Podiatry is one of many fields where the delivery of medication can be benefitted by compounding. Through the addition of different ingredients, a podiatric medication can have increased penetration to the skin, a combination of different active ingredients, or increased activity of a drug due to the combination of multiple active ingredients.

Antifungal Therapy:
Fungal infections of the feet can present in many forms and locations, and can require specialized therapy to treat. Compounded antifungals can help address concerns like penetrating the nail/skin or maintaining the proper level of moisture.

Arthritis/Inflammation:
For both acute and chronic pain and inflammation of the feet, NSAIDs can be a strong choice. Due to their possible side effects if taken orally, NSAIDs can be the most appropriate therapy when compounded as a topical formula.

Diabetic Neuropathy:
Diabetes can cause a number of symptoms throughout the entire body, one of which is neuropathy of the extremities. Patients often experience this first as pain in the feet and toes. While the cause of this pain should be addressed with diabetes medications, the pain itself should be addressed for the well-being of the patient. A number of different compounded medications will help manage this pain, often in the form of topical creams.

Warts:
Warts are a common skin condition caused by Human Papilloma Viruses that can negatively affect many patients. Warts can be aesthetically displeasing and can interfere with a patient’s movements depending on the location. Warts can be difficult to manage, and many patients will benefit from a compounded medication that is specific to their condition.
